This season, we built our robot, Sprocket, for the 2022 season, Rapid React. The primary objective of this game was to pick up 9.5-inch inflatable balls and score them into a large central structure called the Hub. The Hub had two sections: a shorter, lower point, but easier area where you place the ball into, and a funnel with an apex 8.5 feet above ground level where you shoot the ball into. During the last part of the game, there were 4 sets of bars of increasing height on each side of the field available for climbing, and the higher bar you got to, the more points you got. For a more detailed synopsis of the game, check the video below.
We went to the Orlando and South Florida Regionals this year, and we did very well, considering we just bounced back from Covid-19. At Orlando, we made it to 16th out of 56 teams in qualifications, but unfortunately did not get picked for playoffs, and in South Florida, we got 18th out of 33 teams, and got picked as the third robot for Alliance 4. We made it all the way to semifinals before finally getting knocked out, marking the furthest we ever made it in a competition at that point, and it would hold that record for almost 2 years.
